Visiting the site and hosting
When you open a page, your browser sends technically necessary data to our server: your IP address, date and time, the address requested and the identifier of your browser and operating system. The page cannot be delivered without this data.
The site runs on a server in Germany that we rent and administer ourselves. It is located in a data centre of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the site securely and reliably (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Where the server logs requests, the logs are deleted after 14 days at the latest.
No cookies, no third-party services
We set no cookies for visitors. Fonts, scripts and images come from our own server; there are no advertising networks, analytics services, maps, videos or social media buttons. A cookie is only created when the operator signs in to the administration area.
Settings in your browser
Your weighting in the ranking calculator and the market you chose (country for prices and retailers) are kept in your browser’s local storage so that they are still there on your next visit. On your first visit we preset the market – and, when you open the root address, the language – from the language setting your browser sends with every request; nothing is stored for this. The weighting never leaves your device; the chosen market is included in the access statistics (see below). Storing them is necessary to provide the setting you selected (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete the entries at any time in your browser settings.
Access statistics
We keep our own statistics to see which content is used – without cookies and without third-party services. We record: the page viewed, the host name of the site you came from, the device class (for example phone or computer), your browser language, the language and market of the page, search terms you submitted and clicks on shop links.
Your IP address and your browser identifier are not stored for this. To count several page views of one visit on the same day, we derive a shortened value from the IP address and browser identifier using a random key. The key changes daily, exists only in memory and is not kept; afterwards the value can no longer be linked to a person or a device. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”, your visit is counted but no value is stored.
For automated requests (bots) we additionally store the browser identifier and the address requested, in order to tell them apart from real visits.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in shaping the site according to how it is actually used (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Entries are deleted after 365 days. You can object to this processing (see “Your rights”).
Search
What you type into the search field is sent to our server in order to show suggestions and results. Suggestions while typing are not stored; a search you submit is included in the access statistics. Please do not enter personal data in the search field.
Links to retailers
Product pages link to price comparison sites and retailers. Some links go there directly, others through an intermediate address on our site that forwards you immediately. We count the click in the access statistics like a page view.
Links for which we may receive a commission are marked as affiliate links on the site. Such a link lets the retailer see that you came via Revoscore. The retailer alone is responsible for whatever happens on its site – such as cookies it sets there; its privacy policy applies.
Contact by email
If you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message in order to answer your request (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The message is stored with our email provider. We delete it once the matter is settled and no statutory retention periods apply.
Disclosure
We do not pass your data on to third parties – except to the service providers named above for hosting and email, and where we are legally obliged to. We do not transfer data to countries outside the European Union. There is no automated decision-making or profiling.
Your rights
You have the right of access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20).
Right to object: you may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interest (Art. 21 GDPR). An email to the address above is sufficient.
Because the access statistics contain neither an IP address nor a permanent identifier, we are generally unable to link individual entries to a person (Art. 11 GDPR).
You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority responsible for us: Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (Hesse, Germany).
